Sandleheath Village Hall near Fordingbridge was awarded grant funding of £3,000 as part of the We’re All Together Fund supported by VIVID in 2021 toward the cost of its refurbishment programme.
Mike Richardson, Trustee, said: “Our purpose is to effectively manage and further develop our hall with the object of improving the conditions of life of our approximately 650 residents. Whilst it has only been fully open since mid-2021, our new village hall is already making a big difference in our community, becoming a successful and well-used amenity, and providing a much-needed focal point for new activities, social discourse and friendship. Thus progressing our objective of improving social unity and the quality of life in Sandleheath, and combatting loneliness and exclusion.”
Sandleheath Village Hall was completed in July 2021 – transforming the dilapidated, redundant church building of St. Aldhelm’s into a modern local amenity through a comprehensive refurbishment programme and fundraising campaign. A huge £200,000 was raised through grants from trusts and foundations, corporate and municipal organisations, the Government’s Village Hall Improvement Grant, and through generous donations from within the community.
