A fond farewell for Rebecca Kennelly MBE, HIWCF's outgoing Chair of Trustees

As we say a fond farewell to Rebecca Kennelly MBE we’d like to take a moment to reflect on her time and dedication to HIWCF over the past 15 years.

Rebecca has supported HIWCF since 2010, first joining as a Trustee, then taking the lead role as Chair of Trustees in 2020. Rebecca has been a constant source of inspiration and leadership, helping us to build on our strong foundations enabling us to grow our aspirations for the future.

In her time with HIWCF Rebecca has been a huge champion of volunteering and the need for a wider societal recognition of the role volunteers play in the charitable sector, and has often spoken publicly about the benefits volunteering also brings to individuals. Very soon after she took up the role of Chair, the world suddenly faced one of the biggest crises of our time – Covid 19.  Calmly, she supported staff to move to fully remote working and helped Trustees and staff respond effectively to the huge influx of funding that needed to be delivered as part of the local community response – without compromising on the quality of the funding delivered.  Most recently, she has overseen the process of reviewing HIWCF’s strategy and has supported the recruitment of the staff and Trustees who are committed to delivering it.

We would like to say a heartfelt thanks to Rebecca for being a wonderful Trustee for so many years, for her unfailingly support as a colleague, and for her passionate advocacy for the vital work of small charities in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
