About us

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation is an independent charitable foundation and the largest grant maker to specialise in awarding grants across Hampshire, including the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, and the Isle of Wight.

We work as part of a national network of 47 UK Community Foundations that provide strategic charitable advice and grant making to positively impact local communities.

The Literacy Hubs has benefitted from grants for groups funding from HIWCF to enable reading programmes that support children to read at their school age.

What we do

We specialise in identifying and supporting under-represented communities and groups, particularly communities in low socio-economic areas, and aim to tackle entrenched social problems. Working closely with local and national donors and funders, we find the community organisations to fit individual funding priorities.

From supporting young people’s complex mental health needs, reducing the impact of loneliness and isolation on older people, or supporting families facing life with a child with disabilities, we are fearless in being a grant maker achieving real, positive, social change.
