Following the recent launch of our three year funding programme for local care leavers, we were delighted to host a Care Leavers Round Table. Professionals from a range of sectors came together to share their experiences of how services can be shaped to provide the best possible support for care leavers transitioning into independent living.

HIWCF welcomes new Chair of Trustees, Amelia Riviere
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Amelia Riviere as its new Chair of Trustees.
Amelia joins at the beginning of an ambitious plan to double its endowment fund to £30 million over the next 15 years.
HIWCF specialises in making grants to smaller, grassroots charitable organisations which provide vital help to the people in our communities who most need it. As pressure from the cost of living continue to grow, this support is becomingly increasingly important, particularly for deprived and marginalised groups.

As we say a fond farewell to Rebecca Kennelly MBE we’d like to take a moment to reflect on her time and dedication to HIWCF over the past 15 years.
Rebecca has supported HIWCF since 2010, first joining as a Trustee, then taking the lead role as Chair of Trustees in 2020. Rebecca has been a constant source of inspiration and leadership, helping us to build on our strong foundations enabling us to grow our aspirations for the future.
Getting to know Amelia Riviere, HIWCF’s new Chair of Trustees

Amelia has a wealth of experience in business, the criminal justice system and working with small charities our region, and is passionate about the unique support they bring to their communities. We had the pleasure of getting to know Amelia better this year when she served as High Sheriff of Hampshire and we hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as we have.
HIWCF funds make a wonderful impact on people’s lives on the Isle of Wight
Many people with disabilities on the Isle of Wight have had an exceptionally rewarding summer. Through membership of Cowes Sailability Club and funding from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation, they have had opportunities to take part in weekly sailing activities, enjoy exhilarating motorboat trips and even experience days out on a 36-foot wheelchair-accessible yacht.

We have the great privilege of seeing every day just how hard small charities are working to support communities across Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
We know that this support takes a huge team effort and, more often than not, staff are going above and beyond alongside crucial support from volunteers.
This is why we are delighted to highlight an opportunity to celebrate people making exceptional contributions to their communities.

Small baking business gets help to rise to its potential
Baker and young entrepreneur Sope Oludimu will accelerate the growth of her early stage business thanks to a SWEF Business Grant from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation.
The 28 year old living in Southampton was awarded £2,000 for equipment and training from the fund, which supports young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30 who cannot afford to invest in their own business or raise money externally.
