Celebrating the outstanding work of local volunteer groups across the UK
Every day, millions of people across the UK are making a difference by volunteering. Each year, outstanding examples of this work are celebrated through the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).
We have the great privilege of seeing every day just how hard small charities are working to support communities across Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
We know that this support takes a huge team effort and, more often than not, staff are going above and beyond alongside crucial support from volunteers.
This is why we are delighted to highlight The Kings Award for Voluntary Service – a wonderful opportunity to celebrate people making exceptional contributions to their communities.
Created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), the Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from all across the UK for many years.
Equivalent to an MBE, KAVS is the highest Award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and they are awarded for life.
Nominations are now open.
Deadline: Sunday 1 December for Awards in 2025
