Dayas Music Scholarship Fund
The Dayas Music Scholarship fund was formed after Mrs Hayton (née Dayas), left a sum of money in her will to be used to create a music scholarship.
Grants are to enable individuals over 18 years of age to undertake studies or projects in connection with composition, conducting, instrumental performance, singing, music in education and musicology.
The Dayas fund offers grants of £100 to £600 for individuals living in Hampshire, Portsmouth or Southampton. For an exceptional project showing imagination, innovation and enterprise a special award may be offered up to twice the maximum award.
HIWCF: This fund is administered by HIWCF. HIWCF’s core aim is to tackle poverty and inequality. This grant programme is designed to support this goal through meeting our impact theme around ‘Flourishing Communities.

Criteria
Applications to this fund will need to meet the following criteria:
1) Individuals undertaking musical tuition, especially those providing a community benefit.
2) Individuals must be living in Hampshire, Portsmouth or Southampton.
3) Individuals must be over 18 years of age.
Applications for studies or projects in pianoforte will be prioritised.
Applicants may only receive one grant in a 12 month period. Those awarded may not apply for a further award for 5 years.
Acceptable projects:
– Tuition costs for an individual which will allow them to progress their own music abilities.
– Tuition of individual that will benefit a wider group, e.g. those performing in hospitals, schools or for other community events.
– Grants can cover tuition for playing an instrument, singing, conducting or composition.
– Grants can cover any genre of music.
– Expenses associated with an individual’s music project, e.g. making a recording, hire of a performance venue.
Exclusions:
– Individuals NOT resident in Hampshire, Portsmouth or Southampton.
– Not for the purchase of instruments or equipment.
– Funds can not be used to subsidise other awards or scholarships for Further Education or Higher Education.
– Applications will not be accepted from those in full-time education and/or college education.
– International travel (unless in connection with specific international project)
– Commercial ventures
– Proselytising activities, ie active promotion of a specific religion or belief system
– HIWCF does not fund retrospective costs (these are costs you have already incurred)
