HIWCF is delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Moneybarn Social Impact Fund’, a new £40,000 grants initiative set up to support local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups awarding grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 to those operating in the Havant, Gosport and Fareham area.
Moneybarn, a vehicle finance lender based in Petersfield in Hampshire, has partnered with HIWCF to provide grants which will help the Foundation to alleviate underlying social issues in areas where it is most needed. Eligible projects will include those helping to improve people’s financial capabilities through financial advice and education, improving physical and mental health, sustaining positive family relationships, addressing low educational attainment and providing people with opportunities to reduce inequality, exclusion and disadvantage, including projects which increase access to employment.
Shamus Hodgson, Managing Director of Moneybarn said, “The Moneybarn Social Impact Fund represents an exciting new opportunity for us to get involved in the Havant, Gosport and Fareham community where many of our staff, suppliers and customers are located. This reflects our social purpose and commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, putting the needs of our customers and communities at the heart of everything we do. We look forward to working with HIWCF to help us reach and support those in need in our local community.”
Jakes Ferguson, HIWCF Chief Executive said “HIWCF is pleased to be partnering with Moneybarn on this new fund, which helps to ensure that we meet our objective in targeting funds to the areas where they are most needed. Gosport and Havant have 24 wards in the worst 100 for multiple deprivation in England, 8 of which are in the worst 10% in the country; and these statistics really speak for themselves and the need for such a fund. We commend Moneybarn for rising to this opportunity.”

HIWCF continuously reviews grant-making to ensure that it focuses on the areas of greatest need. Last year we were able to target our £1.1m grant spend to the most deprived wards in our area.
