HIWCF is delighted to offer an exciting new round of grant funding worth £25,000 from the ‘Moneybarn Social Impact Fund’. The grants will support local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations working in the Havant, Gosport, Fareham and Petersfield areas, with groups able to apply for grants of between £1,0000 – £5,000 for their projects and services to alleviate the underlying problems that prevent social inclusion.
Moneybarn, a vehicle finance lender based in Petersfield in Hampshire, is working with HIWCF on these grants to improve people’s financial capabilities, improve physical and mental health and enhance positive family relationships. Projects that address low educational attainment, reduce inequality and increase employment will all be considered, and applications from Foodbanks are also welcomed, providing they are part of the Trussell Trust Network.
A grant of £5k earlier this year to Losing My Sight UK in Fareham enabled visually impaired members to join in with water sports, swimming, bowling, sailing, kayaking, climbing and archery. The activities gave members the opportunity to build new friendships and attend courses to help increase confidence and overcome anxiety.
Grant Cornwell MBE, HIWCF Chief Executive added “We would like to thank Moneybarn for supporting local communities at this time, as we know there is a genuine need for this funding, particularly with Covid-19 hugely affecting the ability of the local charitable sector to deal with an increased demand for their services. We direct our grant spending to benefit those in the most deprived communities, and even prior to the pandemic, government data indicated that deprivation was extremely high in some local areas, particularly within Havant and Gosport. We are delighted that Moneybarn has once again chosen to support our communities through their generous corporate social giving programme.”
