President
Nigel Atkinson is the President of HIWCF. He became HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire in 2014 having previously been the Vice-Lord-Lieutenant.
Following six years with the Royal Green Jackets he joined the Brewing industry and now has a portfolio of non-executive positions.
He is the County President of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Patron for The Rainbow Centre Fareham, The Roberts Centre Portsmouth, Trinity Winchester and The Rowan’s Hospice Waterlooville. He is President of Hampshire Scouts, Honorary Colonel of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight ACF and Patron of the Hampshire Constabulary Volunteer Police Cadets. He is also Patron of The King Edward VI’s School in Southampton, and President of the Sparsholt College Group.
He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Brewers in the City of London in 2010 and was appointed a Knight of Grace of the Order of St John in 2015.

Jacqui Scott became CEO of HIWCF in 2021. Jacqui has worked in the not-for-profit sector in the UK for over 20 years, as a senior fundraiser working in UK and international charities, and as a fundraising consultant working with a huge range of not-for- profit and volunteer led organisations. Past volunteer roles have included ten years as RDA helper and a stint as a volunteer for South Central Ambulance Service. Until recently, she was a National Trustee for Riding for the Disabled (RDA UK) and is currently a Trustee of Netley Marsh-based Tools for Self Reliance.

Grants Manager
Joanne joined HIWCF as Grants Manager in January 2023. Her role is to help ensure the smooth running of our wide range of grant-making programmes. She is regularly out and about across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, linking with groups who are delivering grants or interested in making an application. Joanne has worked for over 20 years within the voluntary and community sector. Her work has spanned a wide range of grant-making roles, both in-house leading programmes for funders such as Comic Relief and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action and as a consultant helping funders to think about the design and impact of their grant-making programmes.

Jo joined HIWCF in 2013 originally as a part-time job-share, having previously worked in a wide range of Sales and Finance administrative roles. Prior to joining HIWCF, Jo had taken a career break and volunteered at a local junior school for seven years, a role which led to becoming a school governor. In her admin role for the foundation, she mainly provides support to the CEO, Trustees and Board sub-committees. Jo also supports our Finance Manager with a variety of finance and HR duties as well as regulatory compliance.

Andrew is a chartered accountant and is responsible for all our Finance operations. Prior to HIWCF, Andrew spent several years with Berkshire Maestros as Director of Business Operations and prior to that with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra as Head of Finance and Deputy CEO. His early career was spent in the City of London.

Rebecca Kennelly MBE

Rebecca Kennelly is Executive Director of UK Operations at The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). As part of the Executive Leadership team she works with her colleagues and trustees to ensure DofE strategy is realised and that the charity complies with all its regulatory requirements as well as delivering high quality youth activities through the Award. Prior to joining DofE, Rebecca worked as Director of Volunteering for the Royal Voluntary Service, one of the country’s largest volunteering organisations. Rebecca has also been a Chief Executive of two local infrastructure charities; Basingstoke Voluntary Action and Chichester and District Voluntary Service.
Rebecca enjoys working with communities and people and has a strong passion for youth work, community development and championing sustainable community solutions. An advocate of volunteering, Rebecca has held a number of trustee and volunteer positions in the sector over the years and is also a Parish Councillor.

Krysia Butwilowska has spent her working life in secondary education, thirty years as a Headteacher in maintained, academy, independent and special schools. She is passionate about young people being given the opportunity to achieve their potential. In 2005 Krysia was presented with a Civic Award by the City of Portsmouth in recognition of her leadership of St Luke’s C of E School and for her contribution to Portsmouth’s educational and artistic life, an award of which she is extremely proud.
Currently, Krysia is Deputy Chair of the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth, Chair of Governors at Portsmouth High School and Governor of Portsmouth Academy.

Rich is a chartered accountant, with over 25 years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical and financial sectors, including KPMG, Deloitte, Pfizer and Virgin Money. He lived in Hampshire for 20 years before moving to the Isle of Wight seven years ago where he enjoys being part of the local community. He is currently a Trustee of a local sports and community charity and is an active volunteer of His Majesty’s Coastguard Search and Rescue team based at The Needles on the Isle of Wight.

Jo Ash CBE was Chief Executive of Southampton Voluntary Services, which promotes volunteering and supports local voluntary organisations, for over 30 years until her recent retirement. In 2020, Jo and SVS received the Hampshire High Sheriff’s Award and in 2021 she was awarded the City of Southampton Award by the Mayor.
She has an MA in State Policy and Social Change and is an accredited practice teacher for social work. Jo was Vice Chair and trustee of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and has previously held public appointments as a Non-Executive member of Southampton CCG and a voluntary sector adviser to SEEDA. Currently, she is an appointed Lay Member on the MAPPA Board which oversees Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements. In a voluntary capacity, Jo has been involved as a Trustee or committee member of many local organisations and is currently Vice Chair of the Society of St James.

Andrew Joy has been County Councillor for Alton and Holybourne since 2009 and was re-elected again on 6th May 2021. He served on the Regulatory and Safe & Healthy People (Adult Services) Select Committees before being elected Chairman of the County Council in 2012. Until 2022 he was the Executive Member for Communities, Partnerships & External Affairs with specific roles leading on European Affairs and support services for the Armed Forces, Reservists, Veterans and families. He remains Hampshire’s Armed Forces Champion and chairs the Hampshire Civilian Military Partnership Board.
He actively represents his community and takes special interest in planning and highways, economic development, sporting and health issues. He is a member of the Hampshire Pension Fund Panel and a Trustee of Andrew’s Endowed CE School and the Eggar’s Foundation Trusts.

Councillor Dan Putty JP worked as a health professional in the NHS for 20 years and was also a financial adviser with Allied Dunbar and Scottish Amicable. He volunteered with the Juvenile Justice Unit and Social Services and has served as Mayor of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. Dan is a Councillor for the Hatch Warren & Beggarwood area of Basingstoke and a Justice of the Peace.
He has been a trustee of Basingstoke ITEC since 1995 and was previously a Trustee of Sebastian Action Trust and the Basingstoke Sports Trust, where he is still a friend to GLL who have now taken it over.

Jane Sandars’ career has been spent in corporate communications and philanthropy. In 2019 she retired after nearly 30 years with the Grosvenor Estate, where her roles included Communications Director for Grosvenor Group, its international property business; Trusts’ Director with responsibility for the general management of the Grosvenor Trusts’ business, together with communications and press relations for the Family Office and the Grosvenor Family.
In 2008, she became Director and subsequently a Trustee of the Westminster Foundation which makes grants to UK charities on behalf of the Grosvenor Family and the Grosvenor Estate. Jane’s previous employers include Ernst & Young and the Economic & Social Research Council.

Suki worked in the public sector in Hampshire for 35 years covering many senior strategic and operational leadership roles with Southampton City Council. She was Southampton City Council’s Chief Strategy Officer until August 2018. Her public sector experience includes area-based regeneration programmes, community safety, social cohesion, Sure Start programmes and corporate services. Since 2019 Suki has been pursuing her passion and interest in health, inequalities, discrimination and community development through her consultancy work and voluntary activities.

Michael is currently Chair of the Isle of Wight Community Foundation, and is now retired with a background in finance and a business career in marketing and operational management, including 21 years with HSBC Bank. He has a long association with the Isle of Wight with a keen interest in community and youth issues. As a former Commodore of the Sea View Yacht Club, Michael was honoured to have recently received the RYA’s Volunteer Award for Outstanding Contribution following a programme that he introduced offering free sailing lessons to year 5 East Wight Primary schools, which has been widely applauded.

Grace Cheyney gained her MA in International Relations, studying in Barcelona. Grace has since gone on to gain experience of working within non-profit organisations. She has worked in a review in evaluation position at the UN, in Geneva, and with her current position working as a Trainee Auditor at the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, in London. Grace grew up in Hampshire and frequently returns from London to visit her family farm and ride out in the countryside.

Josh Hensman is an accomplished IT professional with nine years of experience in the industry. He is also an active member of his community, serving as a Trustee of Basingstoke West Scouts and having previously been a school governor. Josh’s commitment to education and community involvement speaks to his passion for making a positive impact in the lives of those around him. Josh is currently the lead volunteer for St John Ambulance in Hampshire & Isle of Wight.

Ian Prideaux is a highly experienced finance and investment specialist. From 2006 to 2022 he was the in-house investment expert at the Grosvenor Estate and latterly Chief Investment Officer, reporting to the Trustees of the Grosvenor Estate. He also advised the Trustees of the Westminster Foundation. He is a Chartered Accountant having worked in his earlier career with Price Waterhouse, SG Warburg and HSBC private banking. He also holds a number of non-executive roles.

Simon is a corporate lawyer and corporate affairs professional with over 35 years’ experience initially in private legal practice in Freshfields and, subsequently, as an in-house lawyer and as Group Head of Corporate Affairs at a FTSE top 10 global FMCG company.
Recently retired, he is now pleased to be able to devote more time to his other interests.
He is currently a Trustee of the White Horse Federation, a Multi Academy Trust running 31 schools in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and a Trustee of the Country Food Trust, a national food poverty alleviation charity.

Rob runs his own IT Consultancy business specialising in cloud computing having had many years of IT experience in senior leadership positions. He is an Honorary Alderman and former Lord Mayor of Portsmouth having previously been a City Councillor for 12 years, which included portfolio responsibility for Children and Education Services. He has served and continues to serve on many local Trusts and is a Governor at three local ARK schools. He has been a member of the Portsmouth HIWCF grants panel for more than 5 years.
