Sam is the founder of Par Society, Portsmouth’s only indoor golf venue, offering an affordable, inclusive and social golfing experience for beginners and seasoned players alike. Supported by a £2,000 SWEF Business Grant, Sam is using the funding to accelerate growth through targeted digital marketing.

Par Society opened its doors in March 2025 and has quickly built momentum, generating nearly £75,000 in its first year of trading. With state-of-the-art simulators, online booking and a busy programme of social events and competitions, the venue has become a hub for local golf enthusiasts. “We wanted to create a fun, approachable space where people can play, practice or compete indoors – and growth has accelerated beyond our initial projections.” Sam explains.

The early months were demanding. “Balancing cash flow during slower months was difficult,” he says. “I often worked onsite without taking a salary to make sure the business could operate and grow.” Despite these challenges, Par Society has earned 36 five-star Google reviews and recently won Best Indoor Sports Facility in South England at the Prestige Awards. Sam says: “This increase in demand has led us to begin working on securing a new venue that will be double the size of our current space, expanding to six simulator bays”.

The SWEF grant has been used entirely for digital marketing. “This funding will increase our visibility, drive bookings and help us continue achieving £10k+ months,” Sam says. “It also enables bigger events and competitions, strengthening our community.”

With clear ambitions to move into a larger venue and expand to Southampton, Par Society is well on its way to becoming the region’s go-to indoor golf destination.
